”I entered the world of glitz and glitter, while in Abidjan, West Africa, the  capital of African fashion. My aunt, an intern with PATHEO introduced me to his friend, a  promoter of cultural events. Then began a series of  interviews TV, radio, press, educational Talks in schools, Social talks for the poor,  HIV / Aids positive patients, giving Gifts, distributing condoms, and educational materials. Highly publicized, after my term, I was solicited by modeling agencies. I decided to venture into Freelance. Challenges

Modeling is still a taboo and stigmatized; Regarded as a medium for beautiful girls with empty heads. This is mostly because some take advantage of the naivety of  girls who have a passion for fashion and modeling. They drag them into a point where they can no longer cope. I received proposals from these unscrupulous people in my career where I have nearly entered into contracts that would have cost me damage. Fortunately, being more informed and guided by a great team, those are the obstacles I managed to avoid and which can be avoided.
The most important thing is to keep in mind the objectives set from the  unset; to believe in your passion and dreams. Dare not say things are going wrong or it does not suits you; Know how to earn respect as an African woman and keep your dignity in all circumstances.
Upcoming Events

The adventure continues. Dates of  cultural events have been programmed for  Europe, and America: Fashion Weeks, ”Egerie de grandes marques” , advertising, spots and posters, magazine covers, I will go as far as fashion will take me!.
NEXDIM WISHES YOU THE BEST IN YOUR CAREER !!

Miracle Ruth Edison is a gorgeous Cameroonian lady with an amazing aura and sterling attributes.NexDim caught up with her for an up-close and personal interview about the Miss Africa USA pageant and her fight against breast ironing.

Hello Miracle Edison

”Hi”

What inspired you to compete in this pageant?

”I was inspired to compete in the pageant because of the opportunity to promote a platform dedicated to humanitarian needs. Contributing to the society through humanitarian work has been my passion, ever since I volunteered at an orphanage in Cameroon for six years. I recognized that competing in the pageant would be a great opportunity to bring to light a humanitarian agenda that is close to my heart – the Fight against Breast Ironing. The pageant has been very inspirational to me not just because of the opportunity to pursue humanitarian goals but also because of the opportunity to be a positive role model and ambassador for Africa in the United States.”

Why is your agenda  if you happen to be  elected Miss Africa USA?

”My agenda if elected as Miss Africa USA is the Fight against Breast Ironing in Cameroon. Breast ironing is a very harmful practice that most people do not understand, or know what it really is. Breast ironing is the brutal act of pounding and massaging of a pubescent girl’s breast using heated objects, in an attempt to make them stop developing or disappear. It is typically carried out by a girl’s mother in an attempt to protect the girl from sexual harassment and rape, to render a girl “less attractive” in hopes of preventing early pregnancy so that the girl can pursue an education rather than be forced into early marriage or viewed as tarnishing the family’s name.

How pervasive is the problem, and what should be done?

”The problem is widely pervasive across Cameroon. It is mostly practiced in parts of Cameroon, where boys and men may think girls whose breasts have begun to grow are ripe for sex. Currently, there is no legislation in place that prevents this practice.  Therefore, young boys and adults believe that they can continue the practice without any ramifications. The most widely used devices for breast ironing is a wooden pestle normally used for pounding tubers; other tools used include bananas, coconut shells, grinding stones, ladles, spatulas, and hammers heated over coals. And it has always been my passion to raise awareness on this terrifying practice and bring it to and end.”

What do you do in college  and where do you hope to be in 5 years, professionally?

”Fives years from today, I hope to have a achieved my college degree in Pharmacy. As a qualified Pharmacist, my goal is to serve as a liaison between the United States and other African countries by supplying appropriate drugs to help those suffering from Breast and Cervical Cancer, Diabetes, Water Borne Disease, and the HIV Virus.”

Fives years from now, I hope to have published my book titled: The Africa Rhymes – a collection of stories and life experience from the children of the Alice Fominyam Orphanage. I hope to chronicle in the book the experiences of children growing up in an orphanage. There challenges, struggles and ultimate triumphs, going from children nobody wants and children that are forgotten to becoming successful and positive contributors to the society. The orphans at the Alice Fominyam Orphanage have a story, and my goal is to share there profound stories with the world.”

My goal is that fives years from now the traditional practice of breast ironing would have been made illegal and completely eradicated, as a result of the alliance between my organization FABIC (Fight Against Breast Ironing in Cameroon) and other organizations such as the National Network of Association of Aunties, who have come together to fight against this inhumane practice.”

What are your hobbies and social interest?

”My hobbies are teaching young minds about how good God is and cleaning. I enjoy going to church and teaching the youth about the different departments they are able to join. For me going to church is an expression of my faith that has also become a hobby because I do it all the time, I love it, and most of all I believe it. Another hobby that I have is cleaning. I love cleaning because I like to leave in an orderly and tidy environment. I enjoy being in calm space and I believe that leaving in clean home gives a good and positive first impression, which is an attribute that is important to me.”

What are the most significant experiences of your life?

”The most significant experience of life in recent memory is moving to America. I moved to the U.S, to begin my college education. The move also reunited me with my mother and it has given me the opportunity to bond with her and to grow with her. Leaving in the U.S. has been a significant cultural change and experience, I have made many new friends along the way, and grown into an adult. Another significant experience of my life is participating in the Miss Africa USA beauty pageant. Thus far, the experience has made me realize that I have a voice and a story to tell. I have become the driving force behind my platform and I am just amazed by the opportunity for leadership that the pageant has presented tome.”

Thanks for having you on Camer Entertainment House

”Thank you”

Giving Back: Miracle Ruth Edison is the President of the FABIC ( Fight Against Ironing in Cameroon),

Spoke Person of Vital Education and Management Cooperation,

A member of the National Network of the Association of Aunties (Réseau National des Associations de Tantines, RENATA),

Diana Tambe ”BlackPearl” is a Netherlands-based model. NexDim caught up with this Cameroonian beauty for an interview about her career exploits and achievements.Hmm! I love her eyesss.
Hello Diana.How are you doing?

”I’m great many thanks.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself to us?

”I am Diana Tambe originally from Cameroon now residing in the Netherlands.”

Describe your journey to becoming a model?

”Well, I had always admired on screen models in my childhood and dreamed of being a model. I was fun of always taking pictures of myself as a teenager. On my move to the Netherlands, my horizons and opportunities were pretty much expanded and my exposure acted as a springboard to my modelling career.”

What do people sometimes take as criteria of becoming a model?
There are various areas of modeling so in my opinion there’s no such thing as standard criteria to becoming a model. You have various areas in modeling such as face models, hand models, lingerie models, calendar, prints, clothing, etc. So it all depends on what area the aspirer feels most comfortable and gifted with.”

What are the ethics of modeling?
As in all professions I think the greatest ethic in modeling is being a professional at all times and being as enthusiastic about your job like you would in any other profession.”

There is an impression out there that models often give out their bodies to their managers, photographers and stuff..Does this obtain?

”Remember I speak on an individual basis and can’t speak for all models out there. My general ethics is being professional at all times in my modeling career. In that light when there’s a job offer, I ensure the standard procedures such as terms and conditions of the job are well understood and contracted. It is strictly based on my ability as a model to achieve the objectives of my assignment.”

What has been your achievements in the industry so far?

”I have featured in various Dutch magazines like H&M, Hunkemoller,  TV Programmes: Ik Wed Dat Ik Het Kan, of  RTL4.Music videos like  Peter La Haye titled: ‘Ik Heb Je Nodig, ‘Dutch movie-serie ‘ Flow’  etc etc .. And I have been contracted to a well known European clothing company as their clothing model. I have also featured in various adverts for Camera lenses as well as Lingerie magazines and Camera Magazines within The Netherlands. In 2007, I modeled for Money Gram covering a football magazine supporting Cameroonian during the African cups of nation and  won  price Miss Black Europe 2008 (representing Sierra Leone)

Have you been keeping  cordial relationship with other Cameroonian models?

”I have worked with some very brilliant Cameroonian models which was a great pleasure and I hope to work with them again in the future. Most of the Cameroonian models I have worked with maintain high discipline and professionalism thus boosting the zeal to work with them again.”

You sometimes feel shy when taking some shots?
”I need to feel more relaxed and be in a comfortable environment. If I say I feel shy then I meant as well be saying I am in the wrong job. As a model you don’t have to be Camera shy.”

Do you have any problem with posing nude or half nude infront of the cameraman?

”I am not a nude model. I model items such as clothing, Lingerie, footwear, and feature in shot movies, commercials, TV-programmes and music videos.”

Did you receive any resistance from your parents?

”My parents have been very supportive and are quite liberal. They are my greatest inspiration and I owe all thanks to them for the success in my modelling Career.”

What do you plan to give back to your country, Cameroon?

”I am a patriot. Simply. Whatever I can ever back to my country I will have no hesitations. I hope I act as an inspiration to other Cameroonians out there that they can always achieve and live their dreams against all odds.
Your worst experience ever in your career?”

Your best moments.?
”I should say I am pretty blessed to not have had any worst experience…..I have had some stressful moments like meeting up with tight schedules and datelines as well as travelling across Europe for shoots and events. That can be as stressful but it comes with the job so I can happily live with that.”

Modeling is quite challenging. Can you tell us  the challenges you face?

”The greatest challenge in the industry is competition. There’ s a lot of competition in the industry but I always try to get some positive out of any negative so I always strive to make sure I give my competitors a hard time. That simply keeps me going and re-inventing myself whenever necessary.”

Have you been making life worth-living out of your profession?

”I personally thing a job should be an interesting thing.  No one can achieve ultimum/optimum performance in their job if they are not happy in it. I enjoy every bit of my job and it makes live in the job fun too.”

What is your future ambition?
”My options are open. I look forward to the future positively.”

Have you ever been a victim of a scandal?
”People will always talk about you in today’s society. However I have never been a victim”

Let’s get personal. Are you married or do you have a boyfriend?
”I have a boyfriend, thanks.”

What’s the worst thing he won’t like you to do?

”He is a very supportive and open minded person. My career needs someone like that so I think I am blessed with him.”

What’s your best Cameroonian meal?

”My best me is errrrrrrrrrrrr I don’t know, really. Sorry.”

What kind of songs do you often listen to?

”I have a diversified interest in music. I listen to all sorts depending on my mood.”

What’s your last word to aspiring models?

”To aspiring models my last word is Believe, Seek Inspiration, believe, believe in yourself. You can make it. Everybody can make it anywhere by the Grace of God. SO, DREAM! BELIEVE! DO!!! Get Inspired!”

It was quite amazing having your on nexdimempire.com
”My pleasure. Take care and remain Blessed.”

Eka Christa is best known for the major role she plays in ”Not my Will ” movie. She is very categorical and multi-talented.NexDim caught up with this cute Cameroonian  actress and model at BlueDrops Studios for an up-close and personal interview about her career  exploits and how she took the role in the movie.
Hello Christa

Eka : Hi
Can you briefly introduce yourself to us?

Eka: ”I’m Christa Eka Assam, mostly called Eka. I am an actress, fashion model and aspiring filmmaker”.
How did the journey begin relating to your career as an actress?

Eka: ”As a kid, I’d always been interested in acting but of course, whenever any grown-up would ask me what I’d like to be when I grow up, I’d say something along the lines of a lawyer, doctor or some other “serious” or “important” occupation. I was usually picked to play the lead roles in school plays because of my ability to always put up a good performance and to easily learn my lines. With the advent of Nollywood, my passion for acting grew stronger and I decided I wanted to be an actress full-time. I told myself I was studying accounting just so I’d have “something to fall back on”, if my acting career didn’t kick up. I started out doing music videos for some artists like Waz Hadji and Tegha. Eventually, I had my first opportunity to feature in a movie in 2006, when I had a role in “Break-In”, a movie produced and directed by Mr. Bill Mosah. “Not My Will” is the second movie project I’m working on.
How did you become part of the  movie ”Not my will’ as well as playing a major role in the movie?.Rumours say the role was not actually meant for you. How did you get to play the role?

Eka: ”The producer and director of the movie is a friend of mine and he told me about it but at the time, he already had people casted for all the major roles. He gave me the role of a radio presenter in the movie and I decided to take it. After going through the script, I came up with some ideas which he liked so he let me edit the script. After sharing more ideas about the story, he offered to let me be his assistant director, something I’d never imagined would happen at the time. I gladly accepted because I knew it was going to be a good opportunity for me to learn about the different aspects of filmmaking I’d always been curious about. On the first day of shooting, we had decided to shoot a night scene in which the protagonist in the movie, Nalo is attacked by a thug. The shoot was scheduled to start at 10:00pm. Unfortunately, we had a blackout which lasted for about an hour. By the time power was restored, we couldn’t get through to the girl who had to play Nalo’s role. We tried calling her cell phone but she wouldn’t pick up, so the producer/director asked me to step in and take the role. At first, I didn’t want to because I thought it wouldn’t be fair to the girl who had to play the role but in the end, I had to because there were too many things at stake. So, I’d say humility and hard work are what got me the main role in this movie. I was slated to play a role that initially required me to appear in one scene but that didn’t stop me from contributing my ideas and putting in the best of my efforts to make sure the project would be a complete success. Now, see where it got me !”
-How challenging was the role you played in the movie?

Eka: ”It was a little bit of a challenge because Nalo’s character is so different from the person I am in real life. I had to do things I wouldn’t do but then, that’s what acting is all about.  Being able to portray whatever character you are given convincingly enough and giving your viewers an outstanding performance”.
How was your relationship with the director of ‘Not my Will’?
Eka: ”My relationship with the director of ‘Not My Will’ has always been very cordial. I knew him before I got on the project and after working with him I have a lot of respect for him because he is very talented, focused and driven. He is dynamic, always ready to listen to the people he works with and he takes all our ideas into consideration when making decisions and that is really good for our motivation. I know that he is going to be a force to reckon with in the film industry in Cameroon”.
-What’s the impression your parents have about your career?

Eka: ”At first, my parents didn’t expect me to take my career as an actress so serious. They thought it was just going to be something I’d do in my free time. When I made them understand it was something I wanted to do full time, I’m happy to say they’ve supported me fully. Even though sometimes, doubt sets in and they try to get me to do something more “serious”, they’ve always stood by me. In fact, without their support, I don’t think I would have made it this far and I will be forever grateful to them for their support and encouragement”.
Are you committed to doing this for life?

Eka: ”Definitely! There’s nothing I else I can see myself doing. This is my passion, this is my profession, this is my life!”
What else do you do now apart from acting? I know at some point you were marketing some cooking products.

Eka: ”Apart from acting, I do some scriptwriting, commercial modeling, MC shows and I do commercial voice-overs. Actually, the cooking product you’re talking about is a product I was carrying out a marketing campaign for and I was the model featured on the posters used to advertise and promote the product ”.
Can you sing? I once saw you in a music video.

Eka: ”I can sing, yes but not professionally. I really love music. The video you saw me in, I was merely acting”.
-LOL.Hmm! that was some great impersonation. You did it so well.

Eka:Thank you’
-How do you cope with your fans?

Eka: ”My fans are very important to me because they are a source of inspiration and encouragement. I hold each one of them very dear and I always strive to do my best to make them proud”.
-What is your impression about the Cameroon movie industry?

Eka: ”With what I know, and have seen so far, I think the Cameroon film industry has a lot of potential for positive growth. We have so much talent in all the areas needed for a successful film industry; producing, directing, acting, editing, scriptwriting, costumes etc. I think what we need now is professional training in the different fields involved and investors who’re willing to put their money in the industry so we can get better equipments and get the much needed professional training, amongst other things”.
-Does the infiltration of Nigerian movies in the Cameroonian market deter growth?

”I don’t think so. First, I think Nigerian movies have helped us in getting the public to recognize and accept what African filmmakers can do. What is left for us in the Cameroon film industry to do is NOT to copy what the Nigerians are doing because I think we would fall short. They are masters at their game, I must say and I applaud them for what they’ve been able to achieve so far. I think we should come up with our own unique style of filmmaking and make a name for ourselves. We have enough talent to be able to achieve that. The main hurdle we’d have to cross is getting Cameroonians to have confidence in and accept Cameroonian films, by doing quality productions. Once we can achieve that, I think there’s enough space in the market for all of us to fit in; Cameroonian, Nigerian, Western, Indian…”
-Who is your role model?

Eka: ”My role model as an actress, I’d say is Meryl Streep. The fact that she is able to interpret so many diverse roles so perfectly is nothing short of amazing and inspiring to me” .
-After the release of ”Not my will” .What will be next on your agenda?

Eka: ”I’m currently working on a script for a short movie which I intend to shoot when I’m done with my work on “Not My Will”. At the moment, I think it’s best for me to proceed cautiously”.
-What have been your worst and best moments of your life?

Eka: ”The most heart-wrenching moment in my life was the day I lost my sister”.
-Oh Oh sorry.

Eka: ”I am at my happiest when I’m surrounded by family, friends, laughter, food and music; when I’m surrounded by love and warmth”.
-If you get rich today what humanitarian act will you deliver to your community?

Eka: ”Taking care of orphans, widows and the needy in general is something I’ve always wanted to do. In whatever way I could help, I gladly will”.
-Let’s get personal. Are you married?

Eka: ”Married? No, not yet. Right now I’m all-consumed with trying to establish my career”.
-What’s your most delicious Cameroonian dish?

Eka: ”I don’t know for sure but I love pepper soup a lot. I love spicy food”.
-What kind of music do you have in your Ipod?

Eka: ”Basically, I listen to anything that moves me; anything that makes me want to cry or makes me want to dance. I love Gospel songs, soul, anything Dancehall, hip-hop, R&B and of course the Naija hits. Not forgetting Coupe Decale and Makossa” .
-What message do you want to pass across to the world?

Eka: ”First, I’d say before you set out to achieve anything, believe in God, believe in yourself and believe in what you want to achieve because when you find yourself in a tight spot, it’s that belief which keeps you going. Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability because you never know where it may lead you. Trust me on this, I have had first hand experience. Humility and hard work are a sure path to long-lasting success. And remember, anything you do which does not lead you TOWARDS your goal, leads you AWAY from it!”
-It was nice having you on Cameroon entertainment House.
Eka: ”Thank you too, for having me”.
