NexDim: what pushed you to leave Cameroon into Hollywood ?

Range Rover: ”I didn’t leave Cameroon to Hollywood. As you know, I have always been looked as Hollywood from Cameroon. But when I moved to the U.S.A, I went to the wrong place, Maryland where I lived for 2 years but I still followed my dreams. It was the wrong place because if I had left earlier, I know I would have been further but its all good God knows why”.

NexDim: How does it feel like attending film school in Hollywood ?

Range Rover:”My acting Career still stands but i switched (our secret ) to fashion design. I love acting and it is in my blood and at the same time I am fashion, I represent fashion like my “Bestie”, Rose will say”her dress code is too flashy for fashion’‘ . So after doing the film thing , you get to realize in NYFA, it’s mostly good for people who want to be film makers. I was taking classes at SMC but i switched to FDIM, a renowned fashion design school in Down town LA popularly known as Fashion District where I did two years and graduated with a clothing line and a degree. Hopefully celebs like me of course (LAUGHING) wearing my line. Hope I will design a shirt you will buy”
NexDim: Tell us about some recent things you have done in the industry.

range-2

Range Rover:

Hhmmmm!! my recent works have been Playboy Radio Talk Show which everyone misunderstood of course on Facebook. It is a talk show for girls. Especially those who have  a life related to show biz.I did a spot for BET which airs on and off, I did a show on MTV parental control, I also did Hollywood  Judge and I do a lot of runway shows and different bits n bites. I shot for Sexy Show Magazine (but still thinking if I wanna be in it),and right now we working on a reality tv show coming near you soon. I’m working on that with my friend ,Sofiya (she is an actress and a host..(secret) .

NexDim:I hear you live in a luxurious apartment and you party all the time, sure you must be making alot of money in Hollywood.

range-3

Range Rover: Wow! I didn’t know gossip goes that far oh. Well when you are good I guess people notice faster. Yes, I live a luxurious and extravagant life which I am cutting down  due to the recession in America. The family I did not want to talk about supports me a lot. I leave my luxury thanks to them because it ain’t easy going to school, pursuing Hollywood  then working. but I make some Good money from doing hair. That’s  my talent from GOD.
As for partying what else is there to do in Hollywood?parties start at 12 and end at 2 AM. I do not drink and i do not smoke so I have double energy to party every day.

NexDim:There is word in the streets that you dating an NBA player.

Range Rover:”Word!! hhmm!!the streets will kill me as they always have words. Well, I wouldn’t want to suspend this question. But hey I am close to an NBA player actually couple of them but one of them is my close friend,we text, phone, Facebook,Twitter etc every day. We just friends but I know it’s not the story out there even here in LA. It’s in a lot of lips from people we both know but it’s not true. We’re just kool and we’ll stay friends ,he’s a really good friend though, but people just mix things up. C’mon I am a big girl .I went to 9ja for work, nothing else but I am close to some artist and we hung out while I was there, like we hang out when he comes here . So it’s nothing like I said in the interview with NBA  player. We’re just friends,he’s a total sweetheart, he sings very good and we keeping in industry friendly. I mean he might feature in my upcoming Song. So i need the friendship…dammn!! that was hot. I still feel the heat from those two questions..OOOppps!!!

NexDim:After studying out there do you plan to stay there or come to Africa and establish ?

Range Rover:You so didn’t ask me that question.I can’t wait to move to Africa. I love and miss it so bad. I’d almost given up on school and gone back if not for my mom …i can’t stand abroad..its boring to me.But my issue now is which country am i moving to?I’m seriously working on that.

Range Rover:my plans for AFRICA are huge as I always say I have a mission driven by a vision of a different version. When next we meet i will put it on the table for you hun…

NexDim: How do you cope with  friends, fans and haters ?.

Range Rover:”Good question. As for friends, I do not have a lot, Iuse to have tons when I was on the east coast but it turned out , they had to join my H club which is a better place for them. The girl I call my friend, you should know her Rose Fualem. She’s God sent to me. As for fans, I just love them and try to always answer their questions and understand them and for my haters I always know they’ re ready to serve disaster instead of desert so I am so not thinking about them but I still got love for them”.

NexDim:We hear you have alot of Hollywood celeb friends.

Range Rover:”Yes, i have a couple of them. we always need that extra touch and connections regardless”

range-5NexDim:From the way you dress we do not see you repping Africa.

Range Rover: ”I saw this coming  but it’s not all about what I wear. I breath Africa. My blood runs green, red, yellow and the star. As for repping Africa, i just had my 1st African outfit in 7years made. It’s gorgeous but very simple as I wanted to do something super simple for a start. It was made in 9ja(NIGERIA) and my sweetheart friend brought it over …thanks love…but I am investing in some really cute ones though”.

NexDim:Your last words.

Range Rover:”America is a dream killer to all my Cameroonian African brothers and sisters. If you follow your dreams and wanna live in mars, you will. Never give up. I never did and will never do regardless of how hard it is.

IS LAPIRO’S DETAINMENT A POLITICAL PERSECUTION IN DISGUISE

Filed Under (NEWS, Uncategorized) by The Administrator on 23-07-2009

lapiro-in-courtroomIt is clear to  that Lapiro de Mbanga’s case is a political persecution in disguise. He had a really unfair trial in a country which considers itself a country of freedom and human rights, and where justice is supposed to be equal for every citizen.

According to State prosecutor Justice Helen Fon-Achu , “Lapiro should be given an exemplary and dissuasive sanction in order to intimidate those who would try to repeat such act.” So, she asked for a 10 to 20 years jail sentence for him.

The matter of making a decision by the bench would normally have lasted less than one hour. In Lapiro’s case, it took about ten hours. By the end of the day, Lambo Sandjo Pierre Roger; alias Lapiro de Mbanga, was given a sentence of three years in prison and a FCFA 280 millions plus CFA 540,000 fine.

It is difficult to comprehend how an innocent musician can be sanctioned to this extent only because he has to be served as example.

For those who were present in the court room on the 24 June 2009, and to those who followed the court case and the other judgements before it, it appears evident that there was nothing which could have convinced the judges to change their mind in order to to make a fair decision.

Lapiro was accused for instigating looting and destruction of property during the September 2008 strikes of hunger. The demonstrations and the looting happened not only in Mbanga, but also in some main towns of Cameroon, notably in Douala and Yaounde.

After that event, which generally was regarded as a quite reasonable protest of the people against the high cost of living, the Head of State decided to make some changes. He increased the salaries of the Cameroonian state employees, he asked the government to do whatever it would take to reduce the prices of the most important stable products; and for those who had been caught participating in the demonstrations, he issued a presidential pardon.

This is why those who were caught in the same matter as Lapiro are all free now. Despite the fact that everyone recognizes that Lapiro didn’t act on his own, he was acting in complicity with many other people all over the country, he is still condemned to jail with a high amount to pay as fine.

In this matter, where Lapiro is the one who has to pay for all, according to my own investigations, the February event which the judges are so focused on, is only the part of the iceberg which can see above the water line.

In this case, there are problems of leadership, tribalism and politics, even jealousy, below the surface.

Apart from the fact that Lapiro is a traditional chief in Mbanga, he has the ear of the local population. This is why he was called by the SPM authorities (Société des Palmeraies de Mbanga — a palm grove enterprise in Mbanga),. They asked him to use his popularity to stop the destruction and looting carried out by a gang of youths. Lapiro tried to do so, but didn’t succeed.

Why did he fail? Because of a certain gang which is lead by a man whose name given to the court, but who for some surprising reason was never arrested. This gang leader wanted Lapiro’s head, because he considers Lapiro to be their opponent. Lapiro’s father is from the West Region from the Bangoua tribe and his mother is Abong from the Littoral Region in Douala whereas the people of Mbanga are from the Balong tribe. So the gang cannot possibly understand why Lapiro, who is not a native son of the village, could be so popular there.

His popularity even came to a point where he would have won the recent municipal election in Mbanga town for his party, the Social Democratic Front, according to the number of votes in his favour. But nevertheless it was the candidate of the ruling party who officially was declared to be the winner of that election.

Lapiro’s family has been living in Mbanga for many years and in the Cameroonian constitution, every Cameroonian is at home everywhere in the country.

His song ‘Constitution constipée’ (‘Constipated constitution’) was a mean to express his opinion, and also many fellow Cameroonian’s opinion, who didn’t want the constitution to be modified just to enable the president of the republic to conti
nue to stay in power.

The fact that Lapiro is enjoying a high degree of respect from his fans, and that they would listen to him, and follow his orders, was suddenly used against him in the court room. According to the judges, Lapiro could easily have done something to stop the demonstrators if he had wanted to.

Lapiro’s defence lawyer Augustin Mbami has ceased the Supreme Court of Appeal, and the judgement there is now awaited. In relation to this last hope and recourse, it is not to be pessimistic to be saying that unless something is done at an international level, I am afraid we should most likely expect to see this musician serving his full sentence. And that will be unfortunate for the human rights that are so easily flout in certain countries of the world.
