The Indomitable Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Guinea. Bayo leveraged a ruinous defensive error between Olivier Ntcham and Olivier Kemen to score in the 10th minute.
Guinea proved to be more ambitious in the first half with several lethal offensive moves.
Their zest for a win was quelled after Kamano was red-carded for a clumsy challenge on Frank Magri.
Down to 10 men in the second half, Guinea developed a rigid defensive block to deter Cameroon’s offensive strategies. The deadlock was however broken in the 51st minute.
Kevin Nkoudou delivered a magnificent cross which was headed into the net by Frank Magri.
Cameroon dominated the second half, despite futile attempts to score.
The resilient and exuberant Guinean team stalled Cameroon’s attacking play, and their goalkeeper Kone stopped Toko Ekambi’s shot from the goal area, which would have given Cameroon the lead.
Mohamed Bayo, the goalscorer for Guinea was conferred Man of the Match.
Cameroon had an overall 70 % ball possession , while Guinea had 30%
Cameroon had 13 shots, with just 2 on target.
Cameroon had 5 corners, while Guinea had none.
Conclusively, Cameroon has to sit up , as they face a stronger opponent Senegal on Friday 19th, January 2023.
