PROFILE: CAMEROONIAN ARTIST, ENTREPRENEUR AND PHILANTHROPIST MAKON

A deluge of artists across the world are happy just creating music, enjoying the lifestyle and basking in fame.

However, some artists develop interests beyond music, including a passion for entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

MAKON, born Yong Mark Ndi, is one of those outstanding musician-entrepreneurs who has established a name for himself in the music business, as an Afro artist and philanthropist.

Since achieving success, Makon has taken his career in his own hand and created an entrepreneurial and Innovative empire (One Touch Entertainment and Makon care Foundation) that has sprung forth from his own creativity and hard work.

Makon hails from Fondung / North West Region, attended the CBC Mutengene where he completed his primary education and went on to attend the Progressive High College.

He subsequently obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Buea before embarking on his music career. He is indeed one of those artists who believes that being good in business, football and music is the most fascinating kind of art.

Known for his music as well as his entrepreneurial and philanthropic strides, Makon is said to have toed the path of his mother who is also an entrepreneur based in Cameroon. He made his first entry into the Philanthropic world via Makon care Foundation – A registered organization that provides a platform where mothers and children can assess medical care, school fees assistance etc. 

With almost a decade of making music with remarkable musicians as Mimie, Rich Khasino and Kocee, Makon is now set for the global stage in partnership with some global music distribution networks. He’s ready to take on the world. Describing his sound and kind of music, Makon, ‘my sound just like every other artiste out there is unique but quite different because I don’t just stick to one pattern of music I explore and have no limits’.

‘I’ve always loved music as a child but started recording and releasing songs in 2014. I’m a very diversified artist. I tend to flow with whatever kind of music I’m given, I try as much not to limit my options and try to work with every sound’. With his debut body of work (The VISIONER Ep) in the works, Favorite Black Boy’s fans worldwide can listen to his already released songs on every streaming platform. Some of his released smash hit singles include, ‘Hozana, ‘Kossa ft Rich Khasino, ‘Pepper’ and others.
