Kora Award nominations for 04 Cameroonian artists

Proudly Cameroonian is the feel

ing now amongst many with the nomination of four Cameroonian artists in 03 categories for the prestigious pan-African Kora Awards, 2012 edition, billed for Cote d’Ivoire this year. Sultry singer Charlotte Dipanda and Bikutsi waist – winding goddess Lady Ponce have both been nominated in the Best female Central African artist category for their tracks “Coucou” and “Secouer secouer” respectively. Boyband X Maleya have on their part been nominated in the best African group category for “Tchokolo” and N’Lauretta has received a nod in the best female gospel artist category for her track “Hommage à Jesus”. Before you start criticising and saying who and who are not present, it is worth pointing out that only tracks released between May 1 2o11 and October 10 2012 were considered. Forget not too, only 144 artists and groups were selected out the 400 t0 500 files received. So maybe the artist(s) you are rooting for is in the rejected lot. What ever the case, a lot of hype and visibility are needed for an artist to be taken note of and nominated. The award ceremony will take place on December 29, 2012 at Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan. Cameroonians should vote and vote if they want our colours to fly boldly in Cote d’Ivoire come award day. Congrates to our four nominees and courage to the disappointed. Who amongst all these Cameroonian nominees return with a Kora award like Macase in 2003?
