Inter Milan coach Leonardo has again defended striker Samuel Eto’o for his wasteful display against Juventus.
Directly after the match, Leonardo refused to blame Eto’o for Inter’s 1-0 loss to Juve despite the Cameroon captain missing a number of good chances. He preferred to highlight the team’s slow movement of the ball as the real reason instead.
However since then, Eto’o has been criticised heavily in some quarters for his Juve performance which included missing a sitter from five yards – hitting the bar with an open goal to aim at – and completely missing an attempted volley.
Leonardo was quoted on Skysports.com as saying: “It takes a brave man to criticise Eto’o, he’s scored 27 goals [this season]”
“It can happen that in one second he doesn’t find the right space or contact but talking about an Eto’o problem that doesn’t exist, I can’t believe someone can get knocked down for something like that.
It seems to me as if it’s an attack against Inter, as if they [the critics] were waiting for us to lose a game.”
Inter are currently in fourth place, eight points behind leaders AC Milan with a game in hand. They play at Fiorentina on Wednesday.
When he does well nobody criticies but a game without a gaol the whole world is making noice. He has alots of surprises for the world on the way.
