BUEA BASED DANCE GROUPS MISS OUT AS WINNERS

Three Buea basemalta_streetdance2d dance crews BLACK LM ,TRUE BLACK and DIMS were finalists amongst 5 other groups in Cameroon bidding for the price as winners of the prestigious MALTA GUINESS STREET DANCE COMPETITON 2009.The winner was to represent the country in Kenya and goes home with a cash price of 12 million CFA. It was quite frustrating that none of these groups won the highly solicited price. The crew dubbed «La Ligue du Mal» will represent Cameroon at International Street Dance Contest in Nairobi.

It was a night to display talents, quality in a vibrant contest to select Cameroon’s best street dance crew. The competition took place at Douala Bercy hall on Saturday May 30, 2009. The young stars most of them aged 21 and above displayed their capabilities and showed originality in choreography. The best crew chosen was called “La Ligue du mal” and they will represent Cameroon in the international competition of Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa 2009.

“La Ligue du Mal” crew emerged out of a contest of eight different crews from around the National territory. After going through heated regional contests, the Malta Guinness team of jury came out with eight contestants from which they had to select the best group to represent the country in Nairobi, Kenya in September for the international contest.

The various groups that took part were: Diablos, La Ligue du mal, Hot Clan dance, Boogy dance from Douala, Black LM, True Black and Dims from Buea and X-Thriller from Yaounde. The different groups demonstrated energy and vitality in their dance styles. Though some displayed fairly common styles there were others who were original and well coordinated.

SLEY WORKING ON DEBUT ALBUM

Reggae, R n B artiste Slesleyy is presently working on his debut album ‘’I am a victim’’.It will include songs produced by Emile Ngumbah of M1 studios and other songs produced by DJ Edwin, a Denmark based Cameroonian producer currently on vacation in Cameroon.Sley’s LP was due to be released some time early this year but according to the Buea based RnB singer,his album release has been delayed because he wants to inject some international flair and rich value into the album.Talking to the NexDim team,he says he remains determined and focused patiently waiting for the appointed time to take the African music industry by storm.Sley has already done thrilling videos like ‘’teach me how to love’’ and ‘’ I am a victim’’featuring Kay which is receiving massive airplay on some Cameroonian TV channels like STV,CANAL 2 and EQUINOX.

BRIGHT PHASE PREPARING A NEW ALBUM

The Bright Phasebright-phase Kora Nominated group is presently back in the studio to record their second album. This album will be recorded at M1 `studios in Buea.NexDim caught up with Pally Bright who attested the fact that their first album ‘’ Africa Abong’’ took them to unbelievably great heights and in this new album they will be working with the experienced makossa legend Annie Anzoue.It is also said that the Afro-hip hop and gospel group is now managed by Odile Ngaska, President of SOCAM,Cameroon  music corporation.

DENZYL ROCKS THE CAMEROONIAN HIP HOP INDUSTRY

denzyl1The Cameroonian Hip Hop music scene cannot be exhaustively talked about without making mention of the name ‘’DENZYL’’ a.k.a Den of Zeal.

DENZYL is a Cameroonian born Afro-beats, Hip Hop artiste who is inscribing his name and leaving an indelible mark in the Hip hop scene in Cameroon.

His debut concert dubbed the DENZYL FIESTA held on the 20th of May 2009 at Amphi 750 in the University of Buea which saw a huge audience thrilled and well entertained. This event was spiced by other stunning performances by guest artists like Bright Phase,KORA nominees 2008,Sley,Steveslil,Witty,Sharen,Sparx,Da Mentors and H-Pizzo.

All music lovers who stormed Amphi 750 on that day were satisfied with the performances and most could not hide their sentiments affirming how promising the industry is with  enormously talented artistes who hit the stage that night.’’Denzyl’s songs ‘’E don blow and U stole my heart away’’ were on the lips of every fan.

Denzyl’s debut album entitled ‘’E don blow’’ was produced in Nigeria by J Sleek, a producer who has worked with household music names in Africa in the lights of 2 Face,Faze,Chuddy k and Sound Sultan. Some songs were also produced by Jedi of Chillen music a Buea based recording studio.

‘’E don blow ‘’ is a rich and stunning package that will receive international acclamation by all music lovers. The album is due to be released soon.
