The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon managed to beat the Democratic Republic of Congo under stressful conditions to top Group I at the ongoing 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Maxim Eric Choupo-Moting saved Cameroon's dwindling glory after scoring a penalty at the 58th minute while Kameni Carlos' excellent saves prevented the Congolese from embarrassing Cameroonian supporters . The Congolese showcased brilliance during the first half of the match despite the absence of 8 original squad members but slowed down their pace and steam during the second half. We could equally get Cameroonian fans clamouring for Samuel Eto'o 's return.
This victory is a relief for France-born Cameroon coach Denis Lavagne after troubled times on and off the field for the Indomitable Lions, who played in the 1982, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010 World Cup tournaments.
