According to reports relayed from the London Olympics 2012 village, seven Cameroonian athletes – five boxers, a swimmer and a soccer player have disappeared to seek asylum in Europe for economic reasons. The reserve goalkeeper for the female football squad Drusile Ngakovanished while her team mates were in Coventry for a preparatory game . Cameroonian swimmer Paul Ekane Edingue left a few days later with his belongings. Boxers Thomas Essomba, Christian Donfack Adjoufack, Abdon Mewoli, Blaise Yepmou Mendouo and Serge Ambomo, disappeared on Sunday from the Olympic village.
Disappearance during international sports competitions has been recurrent with Cameroonian athletes. At the Francophonie and Commonwealth games as well as junior soccer competitions, several Cameroonians have quit their delegation without official permission.
I have the feeling that these guys were not the right athletes, they may have bribe their way into the Olympic team so as to effectuate plans and their desire.for example, how Drusile Ngako (the reserve goalkeeper for the female football squad, who was not suppose to be part of the team) is questionable. the Cameroon local Olympic committee should be investigated in order to ensure that, in future, such malpractices should not occur. true athletes will never quit no matter the economic situation in their countries. this is a big disgrace to the entire nation.
