One can rightly say that Christmas bells have started jingling much earlier for Cameroonian artists even though Christmas is still far away. The artists are set to share in the sum of about FCFA 230 million from copy and neighbouring rights dues. In this regard, The Wedding Mc Jokebook=”color: #800000;”>Romeo Dika, president of the copyright management agency SOCAM, has called on artists to update their repertoires in order to ease calculation and payment of dues. Announcements such as these are pretty heartwarming for Cameroonian artists who often complain of not benefiting from the fruit of their labour. Kudos to SOCAM and its management although no specific date has been set for the announced payments.
