Afro-folk sensation Kareyce Fotso was born in the Bamiléké region and raised among the Béti people of Cameroon. After successful studies in Bio-chemistry and audio-visuals, she decides to go back to her passion, singing. She started performing in the cabarets of Yaoundé in Cameroon and became a back-up vocalist for many artists including Sally Nyolo. While in France for “Visa pour la création”, she worked under the artistic direction of François Kokelaere, who used to manage the union of Guinean Percussionists and Guinean band Wofa which has toured worldwide. This encounter gave birth to a solo artist, Kareyce Fotso , playing the guitar and percussions while singing. Kareyce was finalist at RFI decouvertes in 2009 . She released her first album ‘Mulato’ in Cameroon in 2009 and her first international record was released under the Belgian label ‘Contre-Jour’.
