While most Cameroonian artists wallow in misery, fighting over who should control issues pertaining to their copyrights continues. Another incident occurred recently when some artists like Ebogo Emerand protested against a CMC board of directors’ meeting organised by Sam Mbende and his supporters on June 15 2012. They claimed that Sam Mbende had lost all legitimacy to act after the mandate of the CMC expired. The holding of this meeting has been considered by many as a slap on the face of SOCAM and the Minister of Arts and Culture, Ama Tutu Muna. This is because earlier incidents had apparently led to what most thought was the closure of CMC and the birth of SOCAM. The Sam Mbende- organised meeting, despite the protests, went on and culminated in the appointment of some new members.
