Going by their first offering, “Les Filles Njokah” have a long way to go as event organisers and promoters. Their first ever event – Njokah Newbie Jam– failed to the live up to the hype and excitement generated and expected from such a unique idea. Let’s try to forget the horrible sound system, the poor stage lighting, let’s overlook all that and focus on the content. The stand-up comics and musicians weren’t the best we’ve seen and their average performances were further hampered by the poor sound and lighting. The worst part of the entire evening were the dance crews. Onlookers at the Mermoz Banquet Hall were treated to Delire-like performances from crews that tried unsuccessfully to copy what they had seen in dance flicks like “Stomp the Yard” and more. In fact, unoriginal displays. The event to be brief wasn’t anything special although the entire idea of an event – organisation and promotion outfit is great. The organisers should do better next time if they really want their idea to blossom into something special.
