Krotal has carved a niche to establish himself as a household name in the urban music scene in Cameroon. Born on October 2nd 1975, Etoundi Onambélé Paul Edouard a.k.a Krotal started collaborating with budding groups like Anonym and Magma Fusion with whom he participated at the Rencontres Musicales de Yaounde (R.E.M.Y) in 1997.He was opening act for the Senegalese group, Positive Black Soul during their tour in Cameroon,and later in Dakar,Senegal. Krotal participated at the Dakar Rap Festin alongside Fabe,Koma,Daddy Nuttea, and Supernatural.
He co-founded Mapane Records and released a 16-track album dubbed « Vert Rouge Jaune » in Novembre 2003 under the label which propelled him to be an established name in Cameroon music scene. The album was nominated album of the year and best composition at the Cameroon Music Awards.Krotal’s hit song ”JAMAIS’ was the first Cameroonian video to be aired on TRACE TV.
Krotal’s lyrics are deep and original. He delves into the predicaments of the youths in Cameroon in his compositions.
In 2010, Krotal became part of the project “Flots Urbains” and also participated in the theme song for the World Cup in South Africa ”everywhere you go’ alongside Kelly Rowland, 2 Face etc
Krotal is celebrating his 21 years in the music scene. A massive concert featuring other big names like Tony Nobody, Big Bzy,Lady B,Bantou Posi, Duc Z,Ak Sang Grave and DarX at CCF, Yaounde was organised on Saturday, 12th Novemeber 2010.
