
Two Cameroonians have featured in the lists for the 2011 edition of the best African player awards organised by CAF. In the category for foreign-based players, Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto’o has been nominated amongst 9 other players while Esperance de Tunis defender, Yaya Banana is amongst 9 other nominees for the Africa-based players’ category. The lists were made known recently and the winners will be announced on December 22 during a ceremony that will be held in Accra, Ghana. The selection that preceded the publication took into consideration players who were outstanding during the period running from 1 January to October 31 2o11.While some pundits and fans are sure of Eto’o clinching the prize in the foreign-based players’ category, others consider Yaya Banana to be a serious contender for the award in the Africa-based players’ category. Their hopes for the young defender’s chances are strengthened by his brilliant performances with his Tunisian club.
