ALBUM REVIEW: “FAMILY MAN” BY SALATIEL

Salatiel submerges the listener into musical diversity and profundity, with his new chef d’oeuvre titled “Family Man”.  The one who collaborated with Beyoncé keeps proving his ingenuity as a producer, songwriter and singer. 

Intro

The album begins with a prelude, in which Salatiel depicts the family in unison, chanting a prayer for financial prosperity and inclusivity for every family member, regardless of their financial status.

“Everybody deserves a place on this table. Everybody e place go dey for family table”. 

Family man

“Family Man” , which is the lead song and title of the album expresses the dogged determination of the family head, who resolutely fends (chop fire) for his wife, children, parents and other relatives. He is aware of his responsibility and does everything in his power to give his family a good life.

“Nobody can do it for you, you got to double the hustle for the family”.

Any responsible family man deserves respect.

Touche

“Touche” is a sweet-sounding love ballad featuring Mimie. Salatiel comes in with an imposing vocal intonation professing love and commending his partner’s romantic moves. Mimie adds to the eargasmic flow of the song with her dulcet voice. “Baby na coz of you I no pick my phone when my friends them call me”

Quand tu es jeune” 

“Quand tu es jeune” is feel-good music, with an international appeal.

Here again, Salatiel comes with an imploration for God to guide his path towards financial success. He conveys the message that it is essential to be rich while we’re young, in order to avoid suffering when grow old.

“Money is good when we are young, we don’t want to suffer when we’re old” is his profound goal.

Salatiel being conscious of his family responsibilities reiterates his purposefulness to hustle for them, through his music career.

“I’ve got a couple of baby mamas and when I think about it, I gotta hustle for the family”.

“Mama in the hospital, we pay the bills and build a house for daddy”.

Feelings

“Feelings” is a cool dancehall-inspired love tune, with a subtle touch of R&B.

It is a portrayal of his unswerving love for his partner. Despite the hurdles they may face, she doesn’t play with his feelings.

Midway, Salatiel proves his music production ingenuity when he switches the beat into pure R&B. 

Closer

“Closer” featuring Charlotte Dipanda is a breathtaking and soothing love song, a depiction of Salatiel’s lyrical class and musical ingenuity. He cleverly reinvents Sawa cultural music and takes it into the mainstream. 

Charlotte Dipanda’s vocals are celestial adds to the sonic richness of the song.

Sucre Nouveau 

“Sucre Nouveau” delineates the idea that a love relationship is blissful when it’s just getting started.

Ca Va aller 

“Ca Va aller” is about tenacity and unyielding determination to make it in life, motivated by the huge responsibility of being house rents, feeding the family etc
It is a motivational song to hustlers ; no matter the difficulties you may face, everything will be fine. Keep your head up.

Hustle 

“Hustle” is a reggae and Hip-hop-infused tune with another motivational song to everyone who has an individual and family responsibility. It encourages everyone to work hard. Never give up, one day the sun will definitely shine. Seven times you fall, seven times you need to rise.

The key message;

Salatiel switches it up with a club vibe 

“Est-que c’est ca l’amour” featuring Eddy is a danceable tune.It is a mellifluous song which echoes the message that love should be based on mutuality; fidelity and honesty.
This is one of the songs with a huge commercial hit potential in the album.

First lady

“First lady” featuring LOCKO is an acoustic tune about putting your mother first. Salatiel showers glowing words on his mother describing her tenderness and compassionate nature.
Locko also compliments his mother for the care and love through our his life.
It is a beautiful tribute song for every mother.
