World’s football governing body, FIFA has finally settled the dust concerning Charles Itandje . The former Lens goalkeeper of Cameroon descent can now play for the Indomitable Lions . Itandje was born in France and has represented France with the U-23 team. He currently plays for Greek Division 1 side , Kavala on loan from Liverpool.
The Indomitable Lions needed an own-goal to secure a dismal 1-1 draw with the DR Congo yesterday in Garoua. The Congolese opened score at the 36th minute through their striker Diba llunga
Congo defender Kulikuta tried to clear the ball in the 54th but put it into his own net.
Cameroon has four points in Group E, three more than Congo, with both teams having played two qualifiers.
Cameroon captain Samuel Eto’o had an earlier chance to equalise but goalkeeper Mutemba Kidiaba saved his 15-meter shot.
The match was moved from Yaounde because Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium is currently undergoing renovations.
Rennes Defender, Jean-Armel Kana Biyik has refused to join the French U-21 selection after being called to face Turkey and Denmark ( 8th and 12th October respectively). He declares that he still needs time to make a decision to either join the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon or France.
Jean-Armel Kana Biyik is the son of former Cameroonian international, Andre Kana Biyik. He was born in Metz , France on July 3rd 1989, while his father played in the club. He played for Havre till 2010 . Since 27th March 2009, he has played as central defender of the French U-21 team having 1 goal to his credit.
The Indomitable Lions are already in Garoua gearing up preparations to confront the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, 9th of October 2010 at the Roumde Adja Stadium , Garoua in a 3rd eliminatory match of the 2012 African Cup of Nations. Cameroon ranks second in Group E after Senegal.
The assistant Coach of the Indomitable Lions , Francois Omam Biyik has rendered public the list of 23 players to face DR Congo on the 9th of October 2010 in a second CAN 2012 Eliminatory game.
Apart from Jacques Zoua who is injured and replaced by Aloys Nong, the list remains the same list of players who confronted against Mauritius a few weeks ago. Alex Song, Achille Emana, Achille WEBO , Idriss Carlos Kameni and Idrissou are not still part of the selection.

Inter Milan yesterday secured a difficult 2-1 victory over Udinese in their second league outing. After Lucio opened scoring, Cameroon striker, Samuel Eto’o scored the rebound of a penalty saved by the Udinese goalkeeper, Handanovic to give the 2-1 lead. Raphael Benitez earned a 0-0 draw in his first Italian league outing against Bologne .
In France, Cameroonian international, Gaetan Bong of Valenciennes scored the equalizing goal against Lyon. Aboubakar Vincent and Jean II Makoun did not play.
In England, Alexandre Song scored the 3rd goal in their heavy 4-0 victory over Bolton.
The Indomitable Lions yesterday beat Mauritius by 3-1 at the Anjalay stadium, in Northern Mauritius in a match for the qualifying group stage of the 2012 African Cup of Nations. Cameroon largely dominated the match infront of about 6000 spectators.
Eto’o opened the score on the 37th minute of the game while Mauritius equalized on penalty at the 45th minute by Jonathan Brut. Eto’o added a second goal at the 47th minute and Moting scored the third goal from the penalty spot at the 64th minute of the game.
Senegal and Congo are the two other teams in this group. Cameroon comfortably takes the first spot in the group while waiting for the outcome of the match between Senegal and Congo on Sunday.
Stephane Mbia Etoundi has not turned up for any match since the World Cup in South Africa. Convened for the friendly match against Poland, he did not make the trip to Scsezin . Selected to meet in Mauritius this Saturday in preparation for the match against Mauritius, the Marseille defender would not take part in the encounter.
Dr. Ngalle Mbonjo who is currently the head of the medical staff of the team confirmed that Mbia is injured. Stephane Mbia was injured during a third day encounter of the French league. His return is expected for the match against Monaco on September 12.
The Cameroon football Federation , FECAFOOT is actively making efforts to bring in two players with dual nationality to join the Cameroon selection . 25 year old defender, Marvin Matip who plays for Karlsruhe and Liverpool striker, David N’Gog who has been receiving fervent support from Milla.
“The ball is in his court, we have shown interest in him and we expect him to react,” says Francis Mveng, vice president of the Federation. An outcome is eagerly anticipated by Roger Milla. According to him, since France is currently in need of a good attacker, it’s time for us to quicky get hold of the 21 year old David N’Gog.
Marvin Matip, the Germano-Cameroonian defender currently on loan at Karlsruher SC from FC Cologne, might follow the path of his brother Joel Matip. Talks with FECAFOOT have been advanced concerning this player. According to Francis Mveng, he has been issued a Cameroonian passport already but confirmation from FIFA is still pending.
Some appointments have been effected by the Ministry of Sports in the Cameroon National squad. The Ajax Midfielder , Enoh Eyong and the Monaco Defender, Nicholas Nkoulou have been appointed 1st and 2nd vice captains respectively .
