Cameroon’s football legend Roger Milla has been stripped off his role as honorary president of FECAFOOT after throwing bullets at the President Iya Mohammed and other officials for corruption and mismanagement. This decision was arrived at on Wednesday 16th May during a meeting held with all FECAFOOT officials in Yaounde . Article 45 of their statute stipulates the expulsion of any member who is guilty of jeopardizing the name of the institution.

According to Roger Milla who wasn’t present during the judgment, this decision doesn’t hurt him in any way but rather brings him  great relief and he is determined to continue his campaign against the bottle-necks.

The 59-year-old African player of the century has been critical of Fecafoot president Mohammed Iya and other officials over Cameroon’s failure to qualify for January’s African Cup and disciplinary action against player Samuel Eto’o.

Another executive David Mayebi was also removed from his functions.

After having become football royalty during the Sydney Olymics and crawled into the hearts of the Cameroonian public, goalkeeper Carlos Kameni seems to be witnessing a negative turn in fortune. With Espanyol Barcelone now his former team, Kameni’s transfer to cash-rich Malaga was supposed to be the perfect spiringboard for his comeback. But things haven’t quite gone as he would have hoped as he has struggled to maintain a first team spot. During one of their matches where he was opportuned to play,the Cameroonian gooalkeeper received his matching orders after a foul on an opponent. That incident aside, Kameni has become more famous for off-field happennings. His ailing fortunes have cost him his first team goalkeeper position with the Indomitable Lions. At a time when other players with whom he joined the Lions are being laid- off from the den for one reason or the other, the future doesn’t augur well for the former fans’ favourite. As Cameroonians clamour for fresh faces in their senior team, Kameni might slowly be making his way out of the very hearts and minds that once saw him as the only man who could keep goals out and take the Lions forward.

Since the advent of Roger Milla in the 90′s, Cameroon has consistently supplied various championships with a steady bunch of  prolific goal scorers. The latest in line is Ohandza Zoa who plays in Thailand. During his team’s encounter against Ttm Pitchit, he scored 4 goals to enable Buriram Pea  crush their opponents 6-1. By achieving this fit, the young attacker has become the top  goal scorer in the Thai championship with 20 goals in just 15 matches as opposed to his rivals who have played 7 games more than he has.

In the wake of their recent victory in Morocco,a new lion is set to join the Indomitable Lions.Willie Overtoom is the name of the Cameroonian-born star who currently plays for Dutch division one side, Heracles Almelo. After having worn Dutch colours at all junior levels, the offensive midfielder has decided to play for Cameroon. The player met with Fecafoot officials in Marrakesh on the sidelines of the LG Cup to make his choice known.Lions’ coach Denis Lavigne is expected to go watch the player in action and ,if things go well, he should earn his first call up in February during the FIFA week in 2012.

The Indomitable Lions have won the 17 edition of the LG Cup, after beating Sudan 3-1 in their opening game, the Lions overpowered the Atlas Lions after post match penalties. All through match, the host had put a spirited challenge which was crushed at the 73 minute by a Samuel Eto’o goal.The Moroccans fought back and grabbed an equaliser late in the match. This paved the way for penalties which ended in the Indomitable lions’ Lions favour. With this,the Lions beat Uganda to the prize through goal average after the East Africans had already beat Morocco and Sudan. As winners the lions got a trophy and the sum of 60,000 U.S Dollars.

Sportswear giant, Puma has unveiled the new outfits for its African teams,one of which are the Indomitable Lions. The official unveiling took place at the Design Museum in London and was attended by various football stars from each of the 10 Puma-equipped African teams. The Cameroonian delegation  is already in Morocco in view of   the 2011 LG Cup in which Cameroon is involved alongside host, Morocco, Uganda and Sudan . Indomitable Lions’ coach Denis Lavigne and his two assistants arrived Casablanca yesterday Sunday. Other members of the  delegation  include players such  as U.S based Adongcho Mbuta and the team press officer,Linus Pascal Fouda amongst others.While the rest of the delegation went on to Marrakech,the coach and his assistants remained in Casablanca to watch the away leg of the African champions league finals and see the two Cameroonian players involved. Cameroon will play its first match of the three-day long  tournament on November 11 2011 against Sudan.

Barely two weeks after being appointed,Frenchman Denis Lavagne has already come under fire for alledged racial slurs. The accusations against the former Cotonsport coach were made by some local coaches and sports analysts during a talk show on a local radio. His accusers say he had on several  occasions used the expression “sale singe noir” ,( in English dirty black monkey). The new indomitable lions manager ,who came after Javier Clemente was sent packing, has however denied the claims. He has even gone further to say he was on several occasions the target of insults, calling him “imbecile and colonialist“. Given that Denis Lavagne was brought in to rehabilitate the battered lions, such an incident only adds to the load of challenges  he will have to face to lead his team to renewed glory.

Former Coton Sport coach , Frenchman Denis Lavagne has been named the new coach to pilot the Indomitable Lions to the 2013 African Nations cup in South Africa. Javier Clemente was expelled after his effort to qualify Cameroon for the 2012 Nations cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea was abortive. Lavagne is quite positive about rejuvenating the team.

“I know it’s not going to be an easy task for me and my assistants. All I can say for now is that we’ll do everything to select the best Cameroon players, both at home and abroad, and introduce fresh, young talent into the squad to replace older players,” he said on Saturday.

“In order for us to succeed in this very challenging task we’ll need the support and co-operation of all Cameroonians.”

Lavagne has recalled Tottenham Hotspur full back Benoit Assou Ekotto, midfielder Jean Makoun and striker Somen Tchoyi to a 28-man squad for three friendlies in November.

Cameroon will confront  Sudan on November11 and Morocco on November13 in Marrakech before travelling to Algeria for a third friendly on November15.

Lavagne is assisted by Martin Ndtoungou Mpile and Pierre Mbarga.

Cotton Sport has finally allowed their key striker ,Edgar Salli to join French division 2  club, Monaco on a 3 year contract. The prolific player was named player of the tournament at the South Africa 2011 junior tournament.

He is currently part of the Cameroon U20 team currently fine tuning in Venezuela ahead of the 2011 Fifa U20 World Cup scheduled for July 29 to August 20 in Colombia.

Remember, Cameroon lost to Nigeria 3-2 in the final of the African Youth Championship held in Johannesburg last April, but despite the loss they qualified for the junior World Cup alongside Nigeria, Egypt and Mali.
