Former Manchester United and Aston Villa midfielder, Eric Djemba Djemba has been linked to Barclays Premiere League newcomers, West Bromwich Albion. His present club, Odense has allowed the 29 years old Cameroonian midfielder to travel to England to negotiate his transfer deal.
Odense coach Lars Olsen said: “Eric will not be involved (against Randers) because we have allowed him to travel abroad. It is for personal reasons which we cannot say more about.”
Djemba Djemba had a spell at Manchester United in 2005 . He played for Qatar SC before moving to Danish club, Odense 2 years ago.
European football’s governing body UEFA, announced last night they had denied Achille Webo ‘s Mallorca entry to the upcoming season’s competition after deeming that they had fallen foul of financial regulations.
Mallorca are set to appeal the decision but Villarreal tonight announced they had been informed they would be taking the cash-stricken club’s place.
UEFA’s statement, on the Villarreal website, read: “In relation to the decision taken by the Committee of control and discipline on July 22, we want to announce that RCD Mallorca have not been admitted into the UEFA Europa League 2010-2011.
“In consequence, as established by paragraph 2.12b of the competition rules, we want to inform via this note that Villarreal (having reached seventh place in the Spanish league), subject to the fulfilment of all the relevant conditions, will be admitted to the UEFA Europa League 2010-2011 in place of RCD Mallorca.”
The relevant ruling states that any club not admitted will be replaced by another of the same federation and that if the sanctioned club are not the cup winners, the team that replaces them must be the one that was best positioned in the league standings.
Mallorca in May applied to go into voluntary administration after amassing debts thought to be in the region of 70million euros.
A statement on UEFA’s website read: “On the basis of all expert reviews which have been undertaken, the control and disciplinary body ruled that the club does not fulfil the necessary admission criteria.”
Mallorca have reacted angrily and are preparing to challenge the ruling.
A club statement today read: “This decision is seriously harmful to the club’s administration process as there were a series of revenues expected that would have allowed payments to creditors.”
New coach Michael Laudrup is hopeful the ban will be overturned.
Hungarian police on Wednesday, last week recovered Eto’o‘s luxurious Bentley GT63 at the boundary between Hungary and Serbia. According to our sources, the vehicle was stolen in March this year.
It was during a passport control, police officers noted that the official matriculation plate of the vehicle was fake and the car had forged tax stickers . After reviewing the serial number of the car, the police discovered that the Italian police were in search of the vehicle , “said a police Hungarian.
The Bentley GT63, valued at more than 150,000 euros was stolen March 19 in the parking lot of Sheraton hotel in Milan’s Porta Venezia District.
The Ukrainian driver, who claimed he did know the car was stolen and was taking it to Greece for a Polish woman he was working for, was arrested, while his companion was allowed to go after questioning, the police spokesman said.
The Indomitable Lions shall be playing an international friendly against Poland on the 11th of August 2010 in Szczecin, Poland. Memory lane, the first time these two teams met was at the World Cup in Spain on the 19th of June 1982 and the score was 0-0. The Indomitable Lions are expected to reunite in Paris 3 days before the encounter. We don’t have a coach!. Iya Mohammed and two other FECAFOOT officials left Cameroon on Tuesday to meet with the undisclosed coach in France.
The Indomitable Lions striker , Aboubakar Vincent has finally moved to French CLUB, Valenciennes FC. The former Coton Sport of Garoua ”magic man” played his first match with his new club against Lens on Saturday. Valencienne beat Lens 2-0.
Following the dismal performance of the Indomitable Lions during the just ended World Cup in South Africa, Cameroon has lost 21 places according to the recent FIFA Rankings published today the 14th of July 2010. CAMEROON is now ranked 40th in the World and 7th in Africa behind Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Algeria and Gabon.
While Charles Hubert Itandje was at his peak as the first choice goal-keeper for Racing Club of Lens, he outrightly declined to join the Indomitable Lions affirming that he preferred playing with the French National team. Several moves to lure him into the Cameroonian squad were futile.
Charles Itandje was born on November 2, 1982 in Bobigny, France of Cameroonian parents. He played for Liverpool and now loaned to Kavala , Greece following the Hillsborough Disaster ceremony in April 2009 where Itandje behaved inappropriately.
The AO Kavala goal-keeper seems to have regained his patriotic feeling towards his country and has declared his interest to play for the Cameroon National team. He is therefore expected to join the Lions in the next training session.
Albeit the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT is denouncing the publications of L’Equipeabout soliciting Paul Le Guen to renew his contract as coach of the Cameroon national team, the idea has been hugely criticized by many Cameroonians and some football analysts.
Watching ”La nuit du sport” yesterday on STV, Frank Happi , a TV sports consultant commented that ”if Le Guen returns to Cameroon, he will loss the respect of many players. ” Paul Le Guen left the Cameroon national team worse than what he met. To me, Paul Le Guen should not even be an option, ” he bawls.
According to Alain Wabo, former coach of the Junior Indomitable Lions , ”If I am the decision maker, I would not renew Paul Le Guen’s contract as coach of the Indomitable Lions. He cannot be the solution for Cameroon at the moment. I just returned from South Africa where I attended the World Cup. Paul Le Guen has shown he has no experience to lead the Cameroon national team. In 17 games he had 17 teams. However, we did not have time to hone the team”
Justin Mbombog, a football coach based in France, hit the same nail. ”He has lost control of the situation”
Asked whether Le Guen would be an option? Mbombog adds: ”Yes! But I do not prefer. He is a good coach but he has lost his touch. No player respected Paul Le Guen”
The same opinion runs through the minds of many Cameroonian football lovers all over the world. To some , renewing Le Guen’s contract will mean twisting the knife in the wound.
