While the Lions were in Belgium on the 27th of May 2009, to prepare for the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers match against Morocco, Otto Pfister who was coach of the Indomitable Lions left the team stranded resigning from his functions. His justification was the fact that the minister of sports, Augustin Edjoa replaced Ngweha Ikouam, his assistant for 3 other Cameroonian coaches (Akono Jean Paul, Kaham Michel and Martin Ndtoungou Mpilé) without his consent.
On Monday , the 19th of July 2010, Otto Pfister sent a fax to FECAFOOT declaring his candidature to be the coach of the Indomitable Lions. In this fax, he mentioned that he is the ”man of the situation” since he knows the team so well and can be the best therapy at this state.
