Roving sports ambassador, Roger Milla has fired back at Fecafoot after he was sacked last week from his post of honorary Fecafoot president. The ambassador started off by saying that it was ridiculous for Fecafoot to sack him since he was not its employee. He also added that he was neither a member of the executive committee or of the general assembly and that this sacking should not be seen as a sacking from involvement in Cameroon football since only the President of the Republic could do such. He said Fecafoot had freed him since he could now expose all the shady dealings going on there. In his long list of declarations, he revealed that he had been begged to be the honorary president. It is worth mentioning that these declarations are the latest chapter in the ongoing saga between Fecafoot and the former lion turned ambassador. In recent months, Fecafoot has made more headlines for non-football related activities as pundits expect something dramatic to happen. While all this drama goes on, it is easy to see that our football is  suffering.

Former Hamburg man Timothée Atouba might soon be playing in the Major league Soocer along side David Beckham. This is following reports that he is on trial with Quebec- based Canadian outfit Impact de Montréal. It is worth mentioning that since signing with Dutch-side Ajax Amsterdam in 2009, the player hardly featured all -season long due to injuries which have dented his career in recent years. These injuries have kept him off the pitch and resulted in him losing his place in the national team. Atouba hopes to revive his soccer fortunes with the Canadian team that just joined the MLS . Since going pro , Timothée Atouba has enjoyed a good run plying his trade with various big European clubs. If this move goes through then he would have joined the growing legion of ex-Europe -based footballers playing out their last years in the North American footbal league.

Cameroon’s football legend Roger Milla has been stripped off his role as honorary president of FECAFOOT after throwing bullets at the President Iya Mohammed and other officials for corruption and mismanagement. This decision was arrived at on Wednesday 16th May during a meeting held with all FECAFOOT officials in Yaounde . Article 45 of their statute stipulates the expulsion of any member who is guilty of jeopardizing the name of the institution.

According to Roger Milla who wasn’t present during the judgment, this decision doesn’t hurt him in any way but rather brings him  great relief and he is determined to continue his campaign against the bottle-necks.

The 59-year-old African player of the century has been critical of Fecafoot president Mohammed Iya and other officials over Cameroon’s failure to qualify for January’s African Cup and disciplinary action against player Samuel Eto’o.

Another executive David Mayebi was also removed from his functions.

Hardly have domestic leagues come to an end that some teams are already player hunting. One of those clubs is Italian giants A.C Milan who have renewed interest in Cameroonian central defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik who plies his trade with French side Rennes. The Italian side recently sent a scout to watch the Cameroonian player in action last week. It is said that the 22 yr old is a top priority for the Italians as they seek to make up for the impending loss of Alessandro Nesta. A.C Milan is apparently not the only side with eyes for Oman Biyik’s son. Tottenham have joined the queue of teams seeking to recruit the services of the Cameroonian. The player has on his part said he has a special liking for the English league. While waiting for this story to unfold, it is important to note that this is just the beginning of a long process as his French club are said to be reluctant to let him go unless a great offer is made.

As an ever-rich pool of footballing talent, Cameroon can’t stop producing tomorrow’s football sensations. The latest in line is called Gael Etock Junior. Born in 1993, the 18 year old is being touted  as the next Eto’o. At the tender age of 12,the youngster joined F.C Barcelona‘s reputed youth academy “La Masia” in 2006 from  Fundesport. Hardly did arrive that his performances with Barcelona’s youth teams drew comparisons with his illustrious Cameroonian counterpart Eto’o. He later signed with English giants Chelsea who immediately loaned him to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon so he could sharpen his skills. Although,it is has been reported that the player has made that move permanent, his talent as a striker to reckon with are not in doubt. One can only hope that his talent matures well so that one he can be the lion leading our lions to glory.

Anzhi F.C ‘s Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o has surely settled in well to life in Russia. Not only has he been banging in the goals, the player has equally been into music. Along with his  Cameroonian team mate Benoit Angbwa, Eto’o recently featured on the track of Russian rapper Timaro. If you want to see Eto’o from a whole new angle, do well to watch this video.

In signing Cameroonian-born Frenchman Samuel Umtiti, Lyon might have found the  solution to its recent defence headaches. Born in Yaoundé,Cameroon on November 4th 1993, Umtiti joined the French giants at youth level in 2001 and has been in the shadows these past years furbishing his talent. He turned professional in March this year and has been hailed as one of the brightest gems from Lyon’s football academy. With 10 games already played and rave reviews, the player is sure going to be an asset for either Cameroon or France in case he chooses to play for one of them. At a time when Lyon is in dire need of a reliable sentinel at the back, Umtiti ,the few times he has played, has provided the confidence  his teammates need to move forward with ease.

Nicholas Nkoulou (Marseille), Henri Bédimo (Montpellier) and Aurelien Chedjou (Lille) are the three Cameroonian players who are in the running for the Rfi/Foé award for African footballers in the French Ligue 1. As the name indicates, this award was set up in memory of the legendary Cameroonian midfielder Marc Vivien Foé who died on the field of play during the 2003 Confederations Cup in France. The award is intended to celebrate the most outstanding African player in the French league. The trio is part of a 1o man list in which we have other prominent Ligue 1 African players like André Ayew. The first edition was won by Cote d’Ivoire’s Gervinho. The jury is made up of journalists and the winner will be made known in May. If one must dabble at guessing, then I think Henri Bédimo and Nicholas Nkoulou are best placed to win this award given their scintillating performances with their respective clubs.

I know what you might be thinking: this is just another budding player trying to cash in on the confusion. You’re wrong. Lionel Messi Nyamsi are his real names and he is a 16 yr.old Cameroonian prospect who signed for French division two side Angers SCO. He formerly plied his trade at Toulouse Fontaines. His name triggered quite a stir when it came up on the Ligue 2 side’s list of players. This led some people to erroneously think it was his Argentinian Barcelona F.C namesake who had moved. But upon investigation, it was discovered that this was an entirely different person from the Argentin wonderkid. With this incident, the young Cameroonian has gathered some worldwide attention to his name and talent. Let’s pray and hope, on the field of play, his talent also causes comparisons with the three time- world player of the year. Despite being Cameoonian, he has been quoted by some media outlets as saying he wishes to play for France.

Lille’s Cameroonian defence man Aurelien Chedjou has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. The player is accused of racially insulting Ajaccio player Johan Cavalli during a recent encounter pitting their respective teams. The alleged victim stuck to his claim while talking to French sports magazine L’Equipe. He was reacting to  denial from Chedjou saying that he had used the phrase “sale con” and not “sale corse” as contended by Cavalli. This racial incident aside, the two men equally had a heated exchange while going into the dressing room at half time. This time around, the Ajaccio midfielder is accused of having threatened Chedjou by saying that the Cameroonian should pray Ajaccio is relegated; implying Chedjou would get an unpleasant welcome  in case their teams meet again in Ligue 1. Pending the veracity of this allegation ,we must say racism and threats shouldn’t have any place in football or society.
