PROFILE: Sylveria Awah Anye, ”an icon in the Cameroon Film Industry”.

Sylveria Awah Anye, is a Cameroonian researcher in cinema , an actress and a producer. She is an icon in the Cameroon Film Industry.

She has a Master’s degree in Advertising from the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC/ESSTIC). Freelance and specialized in the fields of Communication: Advertising, Scriptwriting, Acting, Directing and Film criticisms. Sylveria is a member of National Association of Theatre Troupes, University Theatre Club, Cameroon Anglophone Artists, and Secretary General of NEWDIFIC .

MOVIE: Nadine Patricia Mengue starring in ‘Docteur Folie”.

Former renown presenter of Tube Vision on CRTV , now 3 A TELESUD personality, Nadine Patricia Mengue shall be starring in the new movie titled ”Docteur Folie” alongside the Ivorian Musician, Meiway who shall be playing the lead role. According to some sources, Nadine and Meiway have been in Cameroon for close to a week for the shoot.

Nadine Patricia is not novice in the movie industry. In 2006, she played the role of Rachel in the Cameroonian short film titled ”Une Vie Brisee” by Jude Ntsimenkou.

The story

FILM FESTIVAL -Ecran Noir 2010

The 14th festival of ECRAN NOIR was held last Saturday in Yaounde with the key Awards for the best film artists. The ultimate prize, Ecran D’or was given to “Une femme pas commes les autres” by Abdoulaye Dao of Burkina Faso and “The Eternal” by the Nigerian Chike Ibekwe. The first is a romantic comedy that features the classic couple with an abusive husband and unemployed in a very hostile society, while the second depicts a man torn between the friendship of a missing friend and his love for a young girl.

During the ceremony, author of “White Material”, Claire Denis called for the re-opening of cinema halls in Cameroon.

Born in Cameroon, Lady Kate Njeuma is a charismatic, multi-faceted and dynamic woman. She attended Saker Baptist College, Limbe and graduated in 1987. Later moved to Baptist High School, Buea where she obtained her Advanced Level.

After graduating in 1989, she moved to the United Kingdom to further he studies. She attended Victoria University of Manchester where she obtained a Bachelors degree in Economics and Social Sciences in 1994.

Kate Njeuma later switched to study Professional Nursing at St Georges Medical School in London.After graduation, she worked as a nurse for a couple of years and later went in for a one-year post-graduate programme at Southern Bank University where she obtained a Post-graduate Diploma in Health Education.

She moved to the USA in 2002.

Okawa Shaznay is a young woman from Cameroon. She is a rising actress and commercial print model based in Houston, Texas. She started her acting career in Cameroon with movies like the ”Eigth Commandment” by Sarabi Pictures, her acting credits can be seen in movies such as “CAGED” featuring Desmond Elliott (in stores now-U.S and Nigeria), “Governor’s Gift” featuring JJbunny, Jim Iyke, Pascal Atumah and Tonto Dike (in stores June 2010), “Monogamy/Polygamy” featuring Van Vicker, her other upcoming movie projects include “The Other side of love” featuring Ramsey Nouah, JJ Bunny and Pascal Atumah, ”This is Houston”, “Binta” and many more. She equally participated in a stage play adaptation of “Things Fall Apart” by Professor Chinua Achebe, performed by All Africa Theatre in Houston.

Ms. Shaznay is currently representing Cameroon in the upcoming 2010 Miss Africa USA pageant as a Miss Cameroon USA finalist. Her platform is to raise awareness by focusing on providing help for disadvantaged children in Cameroon and possibly in other parts of Africa. By doing so, she supports the Keep a Child Alive foundation who supports HIV/Aids victims: – mostly children, and the Shaping Destiny Organization, an orphanage located in Batibo, in the North West province of Cameroon.

Shaping Destiny provides health and educational services to orphaned children. She plans on establishing her book drive micro project, which will provide books to benefit the children’s library at shaping destiny.
